Put Your Damaged Skin on the Naughty List

With laser skin rejuvenation treatments, you typically need to choose whether you want faster results with ablative treatments or lesser results with non-ablative treatments. Recovery versus non-recovery. A single treatment versus a series. Those kinds of questions.

You can be wishy washy at Dr. Musick’s because we have the HALO Fractional Hybrid Laser, the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. When the HALO debuted in 2018 it won lots of aesthetic industry awards. You can put the HALO’s two laser wavelengths to work for your damaged skin.

How is HALO different than other laser treatments?

To perform ablative laser procedures, such as fractional resurfacing, you use one wavelength. The same for non-ablative skin rejuvenation. With HALO, we can deliver both at the same time for our patients at Dr. Musick’s.

One laser targets the epidermis, the skin’s outer layer. The second laser creates fractional channels into the dermis, the skin’s second layer. This is especially effective for removing sun damage, both the damage you can see in age spots and the like, and other damage you can’t see.

What are the benefits of a HALO treatment?

Long-term sun exposure, active lifestyles, and the wear and tear of everyday life takes a toll on our skin, leading to sagging, wrinkles and creases, areas of pigmentation, and an overall older appearance. HALO is meant to address this damage. Because it combines non-ablative energy and mildly ablative energy, it isn’t a harsh treatment that leaves your skin damaged and red. The energy delivered into the epidermis is absorbed by sun-damaged areas, causing pigment from the damaged skin to rise to the surface and peel off within a few days. The energy delivered into the dermis triggers collagen remodeling and skin regeneration, improving the skin from beneath.

The HALO system also continually monitors the temperature of the skin, and it has an integrated cooling system that keeps you comfortable.

What skin problems does HALO treat?

Because of its dual personality, Dr. Musick uses the HALO laser to treat a variety of skin problems in our patients from Swansea and all around the St. Louis area.

  • Areas of pigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Visible signs of aging
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Poor texture
  • Fine lines
  • Acne scarring

Because HALO delivers dual wavelengths at the same time, our patients see significant improvement in the above problems. The number of HALO sessions required is up to you. The system can be customized to match the damage in your skin and how aggressive you want to be with your treatment.

Winter in Swansea is a great time for HALO. While there isn’t really any recovery after these treatments, you do need to protect your skin from sun exposure for a couple weeks. Sun and our winters aren’t usually one in the same!

“Love Musick. The building is beautiful, and very clean. The staff is extremely kind, and professional. I have been a couple of times to treat leg veins- and the appointment went quick- and my legs are looking years younger at every visit.”
