What Are RHA Fillers?
The RHA Collection by Revance is a line of FDA-approved dermal fillers. They are formulated with hyaluronic acids, like many of the dermal fillers that have been used for the past several years, but are manufactured to move differently beneath the skin. Within this collection are:
- RHA® Redensity is a dermal filler containing resilient hyaluronic acid, commonly used for non-surgical facial rejuvenation to improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- RHA®2, designed for lip enhancement and the correction of fine lines and wrinkles.
- RHA®3, formulated for the correction of deeper wrinkles, jowls, and downturned corners of the mouth or more volumized lips.
- RHA®4, designed for the deepest creases and loss of volume. This filler is ideal for cheek augmentation and jowl correction.
Who is a Candidate for RHA Fillers?
If you are interested in enhancing your facial shape, and lips, or in correcting the signs of aging using injectable dermal fillers, you may be an excellent candidate for one or more of our RHA fillers. Your provider will conduct a thorough review of your concerns. During your consultation and a brief examination of your skin, your provider can determine which RHA filler may be ideal for your desired results.
What Are the Benefits of RHA Fillers?
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are beneficial because they are built upon a naturally-occurring product that the skin uses to plump tissue and retain moisture. With age, we do not make the same amount of hyaluronic acid as we did in adolescence, so we begin to notice deflation, structural changes along the jawline, and deepening creases. Our RHA fillers not only address lines, creases, and facial reshaping for a youthful and vibrant appearance but also achieve this by closely emulating the skin's natural hyaluronic acid. By boosting the water content in the deeper layers of tissue via a smooth, consistent gel, RHA fillers work without altering the movement of the skin. You can expect to still look completely natural when you laugh, smile, talk, and make facial expressions.
What Can I Expect During An RHA Filler Injection Appointment?
Your RHA dermal filler session should take an hour or less, including your consultation! The injections typically take around 20 minutes unless multiple areas of the face are treated. Depending on the amount of product that your provider inserts, you may feel slightly tingly or numb for some time after your appointment. This is not uncomfortable, nor does it prevent you from making normal facial expressions. After injecting the filler into creases or fleshy areas for a beautiful volume increase, the provider may gently massage the tissue to perfect its contours.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
You only need one RHA session to achieve noticeable, rewarding rejuvenation. If, after your initial session, you would like further enhancement, you may schedule a touch-up in two to four weeks.
How Long After an RHA Filler Treatment Will I See Results?
Hyaluronic acid begins working as soon as we inject the product into the desired layer of your skin. You will notice improvement as soon as your provider has completed your treatment. That said, RHA fillers continue to settle and establish themselves in the target area for up to 48 hours. You may have some swelling or bruising for up to 2 weeks after any dermal filler injections.
How Long Will My RHA Filler Results Last?
Each RHA filler is made for a unique purpose and goal. The variances between the different fillers may slightly alter how long each lasts. For example, smoother, softer RHA 2 that is used for fine lines and lip augmentation may not last as long as the more structural RHA 4 that is used on the jawline. Because these fillers have been designed specifically to mimic the movement of natural hyaluronic acid in the skin, they may wear off a little more quickly in some people than in others. Generally, we see the results of RHA filler treatment last 12 to 15 months before retreatment is needed.
