Don’t Let Smile Lines Be Your Secret Santa

Natural hispanic beauty

Although this weird year won’t the usual free-for-all of parties and get-togethers, thanks to this COVID mess, you’ll still be doing more socializing, even if it’s just with your extended family.

So, why not make sure your smile lines or marionette lines don’t get invited to the festivities?

Dr. Musick offers three different Juvéderm options to address lines, creases, and volume loss. Now is a great time to come in so you’ll look great for the holidays.

What is Juvéderm®?

When people think of the signs of aging, they often focus on lines and wrinkles, but it’s really volume loss that they should worry about. As we age our body produces less and less collagen every year. By the time we’re 45, we’re working with 25 percent less collagen. This decreases the structural support under our skin because collagen creates the structural latticework that keeps our skin firm, plump, and young looking. As collagen decreases, our skin thins and loses support, so we develop lines, creases, and areas of obvious volume loss such as the cheeks.

Juvéderm is one of the original dermal fillers, first approved by the FDA in 2006. Since then, the Juvéderm line has been expanded to target various specific areas. All of the Juvéderm fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the bodies of humans (and most other mammals) that is responsible for binding with water molecules under the skin to hydrate, plump, and firm the skin.

All the Juvéderm® fillers are hyaluronic acid based. For this reason, Juvéderm® is classified as a “naturally derived” filler, versus other “synthetic” fillers, such as Radiesse.

What are the different Juvéderm fillers Dr. Musick carries?

  • Juvéderm® XC

When you’re making an aside in your writing parentheses come in handy, but on your face not so much. These are the creases that frame your mouth like parentheses. Then there are the lines that run from your nose down to the corners of your mouth, nasolabial folds. You hear the claims of “anti-aging” serums and creams, but they only moisturize the skin’s surface. Juvéderm® XC adds volume beneath the skin to smooth these lines and folds.

  • Juvéderm® Voluma XC

Dr. Musick may call it “age-related midface volume loss;” you call it sagging cheeks. Over time as you lose the collagen to support your skin and as your underlying muscles weaken, your cheeks flatten. Juvéderm® Voluma XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area. Plump cheeks are generally considered to be a tenet of a younger look.

  • Juvéderm® Ultra XC

You may not think about your lips with facial aging, but our lips lose volume just like everywhere else, making them become thinner as we get older. Plus, some women just have thin lips. Juvéderm® Ultra XC is designed to plump thin lips.

How long does Juvéderm® last?

All Juvéderm® formulations are long lasting. Plus, future injections usually need less product to achieve the same results.

  • Juvéderm® Voluma XC provides the longest-lasting hyaluronic acid filler results, restoring cheek volume for up to two years.
  • Juvéderm® XC treats the wrinkles and lines around your mouth for up to one year.
  • Juvéderm® Ultra XC plumps the lips for up to one year, with 78 percent of people treated expressing satisfaction with their lips after one year.

“Love Musick. The building is beautiful, and very clean. The staff is extremely kind, and professional. I have been a couple of times to treat leg veins- and the appointment went quick- and my legs are looking years younger at every visit.”
