Being a neuromodulator, Daxxify is used to treat what are called dynamic wrinkles. Frown lines are considered dynamic wrinkles because they form when you contract certain forehead muscles. For the first few decades of our lives, dynamic wrinkles are only visible when we’re making a particular facial expression. When we laugh or smile, for example, lines are visible at the outer corners of the eyes. When we stop laughing or smiling and the face is resting, the lines disappear. But as we age, those lines can remain visible on the skin.

We inject Daxxify, the neuromodulator daxibotulinumtoxina-lanm, into the muscles that are responsible for frown lines. When this naturally-occurring chemical is absorbed into the target muscle, the nerve signal that commands the muscle to contract gets blocked. Without the engagement of the muscle, the skin can release into a smooth surface.

Daxxify and BOTOX are both classified as neuromodulators. Why would a company make such a product when BOTOX is already so well-known and so popular? This neuromodulator by Revance is made using slightly different production methods, which makes it just different enough from BOTOX to be uniquely appealing. In particular, where Daxxify seems to be most different is in its longevity.

BOTOX is known to last three to four months in most people. In clinical trials for FDA approval, Daxxify achieved results that could last up to six months. There are no human or animal products used to make Daxxify. Rather, this product is made using a proprietary Peptide Exchange Technology.
